VIDEO: Incredible Balkan-Klezmer-Gypsy-Party-Punk-Super Band

During the holidaze, Walt had the opportunity to travel a bit, checking out various holiday entertainments. Just by luck, I caught a performance by the Lemon Bucket Orkestra. They describe themselves as a Balkan-Klezmer-Gypsy-Party-Punk-Super Band. I describe them as a latter-day Ukrainian-Canadian incarnation of Spike Jones. Check out the video (running time about 34:30 -- hint, fast forward past the introduction) and you'll see why.

I say "Ukrainian-Canadian" but am not sure how many members are actually Ukies. It seems founding member Mark Marczyk (he's one!) met bartender and musician Michael Louis Johnson in 2009 after returning to Toronto from Kyïv, Ukraine. Mr. Johnson then introduced Mr. Marczyk to the Gypsy-Punk band Worldly Savages. Mr. Marczyk fiddled around with the Savages at afterparties for their shows, and other eventual members of the band, such as Tangi Ropars and Os Kar, joined in. The rest, as they say, is history.

Search "Lemon Bucket Orkestra" on YouTube and you'll find more great music, including one complete concert. I love this stuff!
