Overheard on Air Force One

Tradition dictates that the first trip abroad by a new U.S. president should be to Canada. Following the tradition, the just-inaugurated President Obama went to Ottawa -- the second-coldest capital city in the world* -- on February 19, 2009.

Walt has just received, in a small brown envelope, an audio tape of a conversation on the Air Force One intercom, between the Prez and the pilot. Apparently the Leader of the Free World and Defender of Democracy wasn't sure of the name of the Canadian Prime Minister and was looking for some advice. Here's what was said...

BHO: Captain, this is your President.
Pilot: Yes, Mr. President. How can I help you?
BHO: Do you know who's the President of Canada?
Pilot: I believe they call him "Prime Minister", sir, not "President".
BHO: Well, do you know who's Prime Minister of Canada?
Pilot: Yes...
BHO: Yes, who?
Pilot: Yes, Mr. President!

* Ulan Bataar, Mongolia. You're welcome.
